- Meeting of ICAJE
2006-02-01 07:35:56 -
The International Commission on the Apostolate of Jesuit Education (ICAJE) will meet at the Curia in Rome from February 17-22. The Commission was established in 1980 to work together with the Secretary for Education in fostering the apostolate of education at the secondary and primary levels. Its seven members represent Jesuit educational institutions in different parts of the world. Father Fernando de la Puente of the Province of Castile is the representative of Europe. This year there are three new members of the Commission from East Asia, South Asia and North America. There will be a report from each representative on significant changes since the last meeting (December 2003) and progress in Ignatian pedagogy. Father Pierre Salembier, the Delegate of Father General to the World Union of Jesuit Alumni/ae, will attend the meeting in an effort to be in closer contact with the issues and challenges facing the schools. Other agenda items include involving parents in Ignatian programs and developing instruments for evaluating the Ignatian character of the schools.
