Presentation of the workshop on media education
Education for Participation in the Culture of Multimedia
This session is addressed to teachers and educational leaders who want to prepare young people to listen to, make use of and contribute to multimedia. During the session participants will be introduced to various models of education for participation in the culture of multimedia. During the workshops they will test the usefulness of the proposed programs. This review of multiple aspects of social communication and of activities that will present them in a practical way should inspire them to further independent work. The culture of multimedia is a challenge and an educational opportunity to every teacher. The younger generation only seemingly copes with the use of new technologies. At a second glance, however we can notice that their fascination with technology does not mean the ability to use it to establish significant human contact with others or to convey any worthwhile content. During the workshops the participants will see the need to broaden school mentoring programs and to include in them the most important metalanguage of our times.
Workshops are run with the use of multimedia equipment: computer, camcorder, video and multimedia projector. The trainers will concentrate on following subjects:
Aims of media educatio
Visual presentation of knowledge
Preparation of didactic aids for learning on-line and off-line
Media reconstruction of reality
